During the first half of 2012, the Ministry of Health plans for a 2010 Advanced Tele-consultation system for Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region People's Hospital. ECCOM helps lead in the deployment of the solution. The program aims to strengthen the healthcare sector by increasing the capabilities for doctors to treat the local population.
The comprehensive plans for the hospital hope to encompass healthcare, research, education, prevention, and community care into Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region People’s Hospital site of 120,000 square meters. The hospital projects to treat 600,000 people annually. The system will be connected primary hospital for remote diagnosis system, remote consultation, remote reservation, remote monitoring, remote surgery , remote education and remote information sharing and other medical activities.
The Ministry of Health remarked in regards for the proposed system “due to technology required significant capital investment was necessary, with many additional requirements for the proposed system such as high precision medical and research equipment as geographical limitations were a problem for remote areas. As such tele-medicine services would be the best choice to solve this problem, with broad areas for development.”
Since 2011, ECCOM has been collaborating with the People's Hospital of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, building out the hospital’s core network, connecting the First People 's Hospital of Kashgar area (ground state level General Hospital) with Shandong Qilu Hospital (National General Hospital) covering Xinjiang 87 county hospitals and five cities hospitals in the proposed remote consultation system. Health Minister Chen Zhu and regional chairman and other relevant leaders watched the opening ceremony of system, evaluating it as the world's leading remote consultation system.
As one of Asia-Pacific’s first Cisco HealthPresence professional certified companies, ECCOM, Xinjiang Autonomous Region People's Hospital , and the Central Hospital of Karamay collaborated to build the Cisco HealthPresence platform. Using this platform, the patient and the medical staff can contact a doctor unlike a traditional medical consultation. The system can help make up for the lack of hospital clinical resources, take a collaborative approach to achieve a variety of medical, information exchange and consultation personalization features for patients and medical institutions.
As health and medical services become increasingly more diversified, ECCOM will continue to develop and promote telemedicine solutions helping to extend the coverage and quality of health services and medical care. ECCOM will continue to work on the social mission of leveraging technology to help National Health programs.
