5/17 is the World Telecommunications Day, on this day China Unicom chose to welcome residents of Pearl River Delta, Shen Zhen, Dong Guan, Fo Shan,Zhong Shan and 55 other cities to start its WCDMA 3G network commercial test and experiencing activities. On the day of the event, Guang Dong Unicom held an innovative initiation ceremony in Guang Zhou with a simultaneous broadcast across 6 of the busiest commercial areas, and a number of the newly launched 3G flagship stores amazed the consumers.
Behind all the praise and limelight, the success of the event can be attributed to the contributions from ECCOM personnel.
Back in February when Chairman of the Board of Unicom, Mr. Chang Xiao Bing attended and gave a speech at the Barcelona GSMA Conference, Mr. Chang proclaimed that China Unicom would be unveiling a 55 city 3G networks on the day of the International Telecommunications Day. With such a proclamation, Unicom Guang Dong set the deadline, which was on May 17th 2009, that all companies involved should finish all the infrastructure construction and service testing. ECCOM Guang Zhou team, in conjunction with other cooperating factories, worked tirelessly and completed the 1st phase of Unicom's WCDMA network construction.
This success was a culmination of the Guang Dong Unicom determination, their successful business operations, and the efforts of ECCOM personnel. In the short two months' span, ECCOM successfully setup the commercial standard 3G to IP layer network in 12 cities for Guang Dong Unicom.
As we have the most widely used 3G global standard, we can foresee that China Unicom's WCDMA will be the dominant standard for 3G network services in China. And ECCOM's philosophy of placing its clients' needs of overriding importance will definitely lead ECCOM and China Unicom to win-win in the burgeoning 3G trend.
